IIT Hyderabad ₹2.5 Crore Package: Edward Nathan Varghese, a 21-year-old final-year computer science student at IIT Hyderabad, has received a job offer of Rs 2.5 crore. This is the highest package ever offered at the institute since it started in 2008. The offer came from Optiver, a global trading company based in the Netherlands.
Edward will join Optiver as a software engineer in July. He got the offer after turning his two-month summer internship into a full-time role. He said this was the only company he interviewed for during placements.
He was born and raised in Hyderabad and studied in Bengaluru from Class 7 to 12. He secured AIR 1100 in JEE Main and AIR 558 in JEE Advanced in 2022. In CAT 2025, he scored in the 99.96th percentile with an all-India rank of 120.
At IIT Hyderabad, Edward served as the Overall Head of the Office of Career Services, where he handled placements and internships with a large student team. He is interested in coding, algorithms, competitive programming, finance, and management.
Both his parents are engineers and are proud of his achievement. Before this, the highest package at IIT Hyderabad was Rs 1.1 crore in 2017.
