
Novak Djokovic beat Pedro Martinez comfortably in the first round of the Australian Open 2026 on 19 January at Rod Laver Arena. Djokovic took control early, breaking Martinez’s serve in the opening games and winning the first set 6–3 with strong serving and clean winners. He continued the same momentum in the second set, breaking Martinez twice and closing it out 6–2 without much trouble.
In the third set, Martinez tried to fight back and managed to hold serve once, but Djokovic stayed calm and broke again to move ahead 5–2. Serving for the match, Djokovic fired a series of aces and sealed the win on his second match point. With this victory, Djokovic recorded his 100th main draw win at the Australian Open.
