Millie Bobby Brown has finally explained why she was missing from the cast viewing party for the final episode of Stranger Things, leaving fans curious about her absence.
The 21-year-old actress has skipped several major Stranger Things events this month as she continues to recover from a dislocated shoulder. Her injury first came to light on December 15, when she was unable to attend an in-studio interview with Good Morning America. Millie later addressed her absence in a prerecorded video message, apologizing to viewers and to her co-star Noah Schnapp.
In the video, Millie explained what happened in her own words. “Hey everyone at GMA, I’m really sorry that I couldn’t be there with you guys,” she said, before adding, “I took a fall.” She lifted her arm to show it supported in a black sling. Keeping things light, she joked about still wanting to take part in the interview and teased Noah, calling him her “best friend,” before shifting the conversation to his family’s holiday traditions.
Just three days later, Millie also missed another key Stranger Things event at the Paley Museum in New York City. At the time, a spokesperson for the venue confirmed that her absence was due to a “recent injury.”
During the same Good Morning America interview, Noah Schnapp opened up about the emotional weight of the show’s ending. “That’s the last episode we’re going to watch together, and it’s so emotional,” he said. He added that watching it as a group for the final time would likely leave everyone in tears for days.
According to People, Millie was still at home recovering while her castmates gathered on December 26 to celebrate the finale of more than a decade of working together. However, she didn’t miss out entirely. She joined the group remotely using a shared viewing link, allowing her to watch the episode at the same time as the rest of the cast.
Away from the screen, Millie has also been experiencing big changes in her personal life. In August 2025, she and her husband, Jake Bongiovi, announced that they had adopted a baby girl. Sharing the news on Instagram, the couple wrote that they were excited to begin this new chapter of parenthood while keeping it peaceful and private.
Looking back on her journey with Stranger Things, Millie has spoken about how deeply the show shaped her life. She revealed that she started working on the series at just ten years old and described it as being like school for her. She said the experience helped her grow into an adult, a friend, and a scene partner and even prepared her for being a wife and a mother, calling the show a “shapeshifter” within her world.
Even while sidelined by injury, Millie remains closely connected to the series that defined her career, proving that she was still very much part of the Stranger Things finale moment.
