Since Lionel Messi’s Kolkata appearance, there has been a lot of chaos among the Indian football fans. And due to poor management, all the eyes turned to Satadru Dutta.
Satadru Dutta is the man who is responsible and is the main organiser and promoter of the much-hyped GOAT Tour of India. After the vandalism at the Salt Lake Stadium, it was reported by the Kolkata Police Department that Dutta was arrested in connection with this incident.
Satadru Dutta is a known name in Indian football circles, and all the promotional material for Messi’s India visit carried the “A Satadru Dutta Initiative.” This is not the first time Dutta has brought an International footballer to India.
He is responsible for bringing global football legends like Pelé and Diego Maradona to India. And has even spoken publicly about wanting to bring Cristiano Ronaldo in the future.
However, Messi’s Kolkata appearance was very short compared to what was advertised. He was surrounded by politicians, VIPs, and security, leaving paying fans unable to see him properly.
Because of this, every fan inside the stadium got angry, and it was reported that Dutta was heard pleading over the PA system for people to clear the ground.
Kolkata police later confirmed an FIR had been filed, and officials said organisers have promised to explore ticket refunds for disappointed fans.
