Venezuela-US Tension: Donald Trump claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, were captured and flown out of Venezuela. He made the announcement on Truth Social and said the operation involved US law enforcement, marking what he described as the end of Maduro’s 13-year rule.
According to the report, the capture followed early-morning military strikes in Caracas, with at least seven explosions hitting La Carlota Airbase and the Fuerte Tiuna military complex, where Maduro was believed to be staying. The operation was described as a rapid “shock and awe” action to enable his removal.
The capture is linked to a warning allegedly issued in November 2025, when Trump reportedly told Maduro to leave or face consequences. It also notes that Maduro has been under a US DOJ indictment since 2020 for narco-terrorism, with a $15 million bounty, framing the action as an arrest rather than a war.
The report further states that the move followed months of pressure on Venezuela, including seizures of oil tankers, naval actions, and a blockade. Trump is scheduled to hold a press conference at 11 AM, where details, proof of custody, and plans for a transitional government in Venezuela are expected to be announced.
