Abhigyan Kundu produced a stunning batting display as India Under-19 registered a massive 315-run win over Malaysia in their Under-19 Asia Cup match in Dubai on December 16, 2025. The wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 209 off just 125 balls, powering India to a huge total of 408 for 7.

Kundu came in at No. 5 in the 11th over and batted right till the end of the innings. His knock formed the backbone of India’s innings after an explosive start by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a quick 50 off 26 balls.

Kundu then stitched together a massive 209-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Vedant Trivedi, who made 90 off 106 balls. The stand lasted from the 11th over to the 41st.

When Trivedi was dismissed, Kundu was already on 128 from 92 balls. He shifted gears in the final ten overs, smashing 81 runs off just 33 balls and taking India past the 400-run mark. Earlier in the tournament, Kundu had scored 32 not out off 17 balls against UAE and 22 off 32 balls versus Pakistan.

Although Kundu’s double century was remarkable, the match does not carry official youth ODI status. As a result, South Africa’s Jorich Van Schalkwyk, who scored 215 against Zimbabwe earlier this year, remains the only batter with a recognized youth ODI double hundred.

For Malaysia, left-arm medium pacer Muhammad Akram was the standout bowler, picking up 5 for 89 from his ten overs. His wickets included Suryavanshi, Vihaan Malhotra, and Harvansh Pangalia.

In reply, Malaysia never looked at the contest. They were bowled out for just 93 as medium pacer Deepesh Devendran ran through the batting line-up, finishing with figures of 5 for 22. Malaysia lost both openers, Azib Wajdi and Mohammad Hairil, for ducks. Deepesh struck in each of his first five overs, reducing Malaysia to 38 for 7.

Hamza Panggi and Jaashwin Krishnamurthi showed some resistance with a 36-run stand for the tenth wicket, but India wrapped up the innings soon after.

With this win, India sits comfortably at the top of Group A, having earlier beaten UAE and Pakistan. Malaysia remains at the bottom of the group after defeats against the same opponents.
