He became Strasbourg’s head coach in July 2024. Last season, he led the French club to seventh place in Ligue 1. His final game was a 1-1 draw against Nice. Strasbourg are seventh in the league and top of their Conference League group.

Rosenior replaces Enzo Maresca, who left Chelsea on January 1. Chelsea are currently fifth in the Premier League. They have won only one of their last seven matches. Chelsea drew 1-1 with Manchester City on Sunday after a late goal from Enzo Fernández. That match was handled by under-21s coach Calum McFarlane, who will also be on the touchline for the match against Fulham.

After the announcement, Rosenior said he felt proud and thankful to be given the Chelsea job. He said his aim is to protect the club’s identity and build a team that works together and wins trophies. He added that teamwork and unity will be central to his approach.

Before leaving Strasbourg, Rosenior spoke to the media and said he had agreed verbally with Chelsea. He said everything was settled, and he felt it was right to speak openly before moving on. He also said he had interest from other Champions League clubs but could not turn down Chelsea.

Rosenior said he would not have taken the job if he did not feel ready. He described Chelsea as a club that is impossible to refuse. He also said his time at Strasbourg was the best period of his career and that leaving the club was emotional.

He confirmed that members of his coaching staff, including Kalifa Cisse and Justin Walker, will join him at Chelsea. He said he trusts his staff deeply and values their support.
