Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan smashed a stunning 33-ball century for Jharkhand against Karnataka in a Vijay Hazare Trophy match played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.
Kishan’s blistering hundred is now the second-fastest by an Indian in List A cricket. He missed the top spot by just one delivery, with Bihar captain Sakibul Gani holding the record after scoring a 32-ball century against Arunachal Pradesh earlier the same day.
This knock continues Kishan’s remarkable run of form. Just last week, he earned a surprise recall to India’s T20 World Cup squad after leading Jharkhand to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy title.
Kishan ended the SMAT season with 517 runs, including a match-winning century in the final against Haryana. He became only the second player to score a hundred in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final, reaching the mark in 45 balls, the third-fastest hundred in a men’s T20 final. With five centuries in the tournament, he is now joint-highest on the all-time list alongside Abhishek Sharma.
Kishan also holds the record for the fastest double century in ODI cricket, achieved against Bangladesh in 2022 in just 126 balls.
