Day 1 of the 3rd Ashes Test between Australia vs England wrapped up with Australia scoring 326 runs on 8 wickets. During the 1st Day, Alex Carey played brilliantly and scored a brilliant century under pressure, which helped Australia to reach a comfortable position.

England came into the match trailing 2–0 in the series and faced another setback when Pat Cummins won the toss on a batting-friendly surface. With Steve Smith ruled out due to illness, Australia still looked well placed to dominate, but England’s bowlers showed far more intent and discipline than in the first two Tests.

Jofra Archer bowled brilliantly on Day 1 of the 3rd Ashes Test Match, and he took 3 wickets for 29. He was regularly troubling the batters with pace and bounce. Brydon Carse and Will Jacks also played key roles, picking up crucial middle-order wickets to prevent Australia from reaching a massive total.

However, the highlight of the day was the brilliant performance by Alex Carey. The wicketkeeper-batter scored 106, anchoring Australia’s innings when wickets kept falling around him.

Usman Khawaja also played an important innings and scored 82 runs, but Australia’s lower order could not fully capitalise late in the day. England will feel encouraged by their effort, especially given the flat conditions, but everything will depend on whether their batting can handle the pressure on Day 2 of the 3rd Ashes Test between Australia vs England.
