Arshdeep Singh had a tough moment in the 2nd T20I against South Africa in Mullanpur. He became the first bowler to bowl 7 wides in one T20I over, which upset Sunil Gavaskar, Hardik Pandya, and captain Suryakumar Yadav. India had chosen to bowl first after winning the toss.
The over began with Quinton de Kock hitting Arshdeep for a straight six. Under pressure, Arshdeep sent down two wides, then a dot ball as de Kock missed a reverse sweep. But things got worse when he bowled four more wides in a row. South Africa crossed 100 during this over.
Arshdeep then bowled on a better line, giving a few singles and a double, but ended the over with another wide. South Africa took 18 runs from that over. The camera later showed coach Gautam Gambhir looking angry in the dugout.
India kept the same XI from the first match. South Africa made three changes, bringing in Reeze Hendricks, George Linde, and Ottneil Baartman. This match was also the first-ever men’s international game held in Mullanpur, where two new stands were named after Yuvraj Singh and Harmanpreet Kaur.
