The reboot of Perfect Dark has been officially cancelled. The cancellation was confirmed by Xbox Game Studios president Matt Booty.
The lead actor, Alix Wilton Regan, revealed that entire chapters of the game had been completed, motion-captured captured recorded before the cancellation of the game.
The Reboot of the Perfect Dark game was announced at the Game Awards in 2020, the development began in 2018. The project was initially in pre-production, with development reportedly restarting from scratch on Unreal Engine 5 in 2022 after a shift from Unreal Engine 4.
The Xbox announced the cancellation of the project on 2 July 2025, along with the other cancellations of the projects. As of December, it is officially confirmed that the cancellation of project with no further development whatsoever.
As of this year, Xbox fans have been facing disappointment this year, with frequently changing and increasing prices of Xbox consoles. The Xbox Game Pass has also doubled the price this year, leaving the fans in more disappointment.
