Twenty-year-old left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder Prashant Veer has landed his first-ever Indian Premier League contract after he was secured by CSK in the IPL 2026 auction. Chennai Super Kings went big at the IPL 2026 mini-auction, securing the youngster for a whopping ₹14.2 crore.

With this deal, Veer became the joint most expensive uncapped player in IPL auction history. The move signals CSK’s long-term vision, with the franchise likely to groom him as a future successor to Ravindra Jadeja.

Veer is still at an early stage of his career and has played only nine T20 matches so far. In those games, he has picked up 12 wickets while maintaining an impressive economy rate of 6.45.

With the bat, the attacking all-rounder has scored 112 runs at a strong strike rate of 167.16. The Uttar Pradesh-based cricketer has also featured in a couple of First-Class matches, adding to his growing experience.

Veer’s ₹14.2 crore deal pushed him to the top of the uncapped players’ list in IPL history. The previous record was held by Avesh Khan, who was bought for ₹10 crore by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2022.

Interestingly, just minutes after signing Veer, Chennai Super Kings snapped up another uncapped all-rounder, Kartik Sharma, for the exact same amount. As a result, Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma now jointly hold the record for the most expensive uncapped players in IPL auction history.
