The Supergirl trailer is finally out, and honestly, it feels like DC just turned a whole new page with this one. During this trailer, we officially saw Milly Alcock’s second look as Supergirl in the DCU. The moment she appeared on the screen, it was clear that she wasn’t the usual “smiling, hopeful cousin of Superman” version. She’s tougher, a little fed up with life, and clearly dealing with things Superman never had to.

If you remember her tiny cameo in James Gunn’s Superman, she basically walked into the Fortress of Solitude like someone who’d had the longest day of her life. And in the Supergirl trailer, that same energy continues, except now we actually get to see her personality. She’s blunt, she’s tired, and she’s not pretending to be a symbol of hope.

During the new Supergirl trailer, there’s a moment where Milly Alcock’s Supergirl says, “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth.” And that honestly tells you everything you need to know about this version of Sipergirl. She’s very different from the Supergirl we saw in Arrowverse or the Supergirl we saw in the Flash movie, and she is definitely not trying to be like her cousin Kal-El. This Supergirl trailer clearly showcases that Kara is her own person, and she’s a lot more complicated than Clark.
