Construction of the temporary stadium for the Royal Rumble 2026 in Riyadh is almost complete. The venue is located at the King Abdullah Financial District, and new photos show the structure largely finished, with crews now working on seating and staging inside the stadium.
The Royal Rumble will be held in a temporary arena, which surprised some fans, but reports confirmed there is no delay. Temporary stadiums are commonly used for big events because they allow flexible layouts and avoid the cost of maintaining a permanent venue.
WWE has done this before. In 1993, WrestleMania IX was held in a custom-built stadium set up in a parking lot at Caesars Palace, designed like a Roman coliseum.
Work in Riyadh is progressing well ahead of WWE announcing the full match card. At the moment, Cody Rhodes is the only confirmed entrant for the men’s Royal Rumble match.
The event will also include at least one world title match. Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre will defend his title against the winner of a Fatal 4-Way at Saturday Night’s Main Event. WWE is expected to add at least one more match, keeping the four-match format used in 2024.
WWE Royal Rumble 2026 set for January 31 in Riyadh, first outside North America
The 39th annual WWE Royal Rumble will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026. This year’s event is special because it will be held outside North America for the first time, with WWE hosting the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the King Abdullah Financial District.
The Royal Rumble is one of WWE’s most important events because the winners of the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches earn a world championship match of their choice at WrestleMania. Every superstar sees this event as a direct path to the biggest stage of the year.
At present, the announced card includes the Men’s Royal Rumble 2026 Match and the Women’s Royal Rumble 2026 Match. More matches are expected to be added as the event gets closer, and the final card may still change.
