MI vs GG: Mumbai Indians Women beat Gujarat Giants Women by 7 wickets in the MI vs GG WPL 2026 match on January 13. Harmanpreet Kaur finished the chase in style with a flick to the square-leg boundary off Sophie Devine. Mumbai stayed calm and in control and continued their unbeaten record against Gujarat.

During the chase, Mumbai paced the innings well. Harmanpreet Kaur and Nicola Carey rotated the strike smartly in the final overs. In the 18th over, Harmanpreet was dropped and then hit back-to-back boundaries, putting Mumbai firmly ahead. 

Earlier, Harmanpreet scored her fifth fifty in eight innings against Gujarat, extending her record for the most 50-plus scores in WPL history. She received strong support from Amanjot Kaur, who scored 40 off 26 balls before getting out in the 13th over. Nicola Carey then added quick runs, including a big over where she hit five boundaries off Renuka Singh.

Mumbai brought up 100 in the 12th over, with Harmanpreet hitting a six off Ashleigh Gardner. The partnership between Harmanpreet and Amanjot kept the chase steady, and later Harmanpreet and Carey added a 50-run stand to seal the match.

At the end of the MI vs GG match, Mumbai Indians Women chased the target comfortably and won by 7 wickets, with their captain Harmanpreet Kaur leading from the front.

Gujarat Giants scored 192 for 5 against Mumbai Indians in the MI vs GG WPL match in Navi Mumbai and set a target of 193 runs. The innings was held together at the end by an unbeaten 56-run partnership for the sixth wicket between Georgia Wareham and Bharti Fulmali.

Gujarat started well after being asked to bat first. Openers Sophie Devine and Beth Mooney hit four boundaries in the second over. Devine was dismissed by Shabnim Ismail for 8 runs off 4 balls, leaving the score at 26 for 1 in three overs. Kanika Ahuja then hit a six and a four, and Gujarat reached 62 for 1 at the end of the powerplay. This was their third-highest power play score in WPL history.

The innings then slowed down. Amelia Kerr dismissed Beth Mooney for 33 off 26 balls in the seventh over. Nicola Carey removed captain Ashleigh Gardner in the 10th over. Gardner scored 20 off 11 balls. Gujarat were 99 for 3 at that stage.

Georgia Wareham and Ayushi Soni rebuilt the innings and took the score to 130 for 4 in 15 overs. Soni was later retired out after scoring 11 off 14 balls. In the final four overs, Bharti Fulmali scored an unbeaten 36 off 15 balls, and Wareham finished unbeaten on 43 off 33 balls, pushing the total to 192 for 5.

With this score, Gujarat Giants became the first team in WPL history to cross 185 runs in an innings without any batter scoring a fifty. This total is also the joint second-highest team score against Mumbai Indians, behind Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s 199 for 3 in 2025.
