Auqib Nabi Dar is an Indian cricketer who bowls right-arm medium pace. He plays for Jammu & Kashmir in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

He started his List A career in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy on 23 September 2018. He played his first Twenty20 match on 11 November 2019 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His first-class debut came on 3 January 2020 in the Ranji Trophy. On 19 January 2020, he took 5 wickets for 39 runs against Odisha. In October 2024, he recorded his best first-class bowling of 5 for 29 to help dismiss Services for 71.

In the 2024–25 Ranji season, Auqib took 44 wickets, the second-highest that season, with a strike rate of 30.47 and an average of 13.93. He was chosen for North Zone in the 2025–26 Duleep Trophy and took four wickets in four balls against East Zone, starting with Virat Singh. In October 2025, he scored 55 and took 3 for 29 and 7 for 24 in Jammu & Kashmir’s win over Rajasthan. In the 2026 IPL auction, Delhi Capitals bought him for ₹8.40 crore.

In First-Class cricket, Auqib Nabi has played 36 matches and scored 870 runs with one fifty. He has taken 125 wickets, including 12 five-wicket hauls, 5 four-wicket hauls, and 3 ten-wicket matches, with a best of 7/24. 

In List A cricket, he has played 34 matches and scored 436 runs. He has taken 49 wickets, including 2 four-wicket hauls, with a best of 4/39. In T20s, he has 34 matches, 141 runs, and 43 wickets, including 2 four-wicket hauls, with a best of 4/16.

Auqib Nabi’s Personal Life

Auqib Nabi grew up in Baramulla, J&K. His father wanted him to be a doctor, but Auqib loved cricket. As a child, he copied Dale Steyn’s bowling. He started with tennis-ball cricket and went to JKCA trials but wasn’t selected for 2–3 years. In 2016, he made the U-19 team for four-day matches and then played U-23 before making his Ranji debut in 2020.

Irfan Pathan mentored him early, giving tips on wrist position and bowling both swings. Later, coach P. Krishna Kumar helped him improve further. His performances in the Ranji Trophy and Duleep Trophy have been strong, taking big wickets and five-wicket hauls.

Auqib treasures his first pair of spikes, bought with his first match fee. His dream is to play for India and eventually open a cricket academy in Baramulla to train young players. He believes in working hard and leaving the rest to destiny.

Auqib Nabi’s dream came true in December 2025 when Delhi Capitals bought him for Rs 8.4 crore in the IPL 2026 auction. He is a fast bowler from Jammu & Kashmir. His good performances in domestic cricket and ability to take important wickets made teams interested in him. This is a big moment for cricket in J&K and shows players from the region are getting noticed on the national stage.
