Smriti Mandhana is on the brink of yet another landmark as India gets ready to face Sri Lanka in the fifth and final women’s T20I on Tuesday. The Indian opener is closing in on the overall international run-scoring record for 2025 and is just one strong innings away from overtaking Shubman Gill.
Mandhana has already scored 1,703 international runs across formats this year, making it the highest tally by any woman in a single calendar year. She now needs only 62 more runs to go past Gill’s total of 1,764, which is currently the most runs scored by an Indian cricketer (man or woman) in 2025.
India have already wrapped up the five-match series with an unassailable 4-0 lead and will be eyeing a clean sweep in the final game against Sri Lanka.

Smriti Mandhana recently added another major achievement to her career, becoming the second Indian and fourth woman overall to reach 10,000 international runs. She achieved the milestone during the fourth T20I at the Greenfield International Stadium, joining an elite list that includes Mithali Raj, Suzie Bates, and Charlotte Edwards.
Her influence was on full display in that fourth T20I against Sri Lanka, where she smashed 80 off 48 balls, hitting 11 fours and three sixes. That knock powered India to their highest-ever women’s T20I total of 221 for 2, before the hosts went on to seal a 30-run win.
Mandhana’s numbers across formats underline her place among the modern greats. In Test cricket, she has scored 629 runs from seven matches at an average of 57.18, with two centuries and three half-centuries.
In ODIs, she has amassed 5,322 runs from 117 matches at an average of 48.38, including 14 hundreds and 34 fifties, placing her sixth on the all-time women’s ODI run-scoring list. In T20Is, she has scored 4,102 runs from 157 matches at a strike rate of 124.22, making her the second-highest run-scorer in the format.
